Apple Reportedly Prepping 12.9 Inch iPad For A 2014 Release
Apple has been leading the tablet market since the advent of the first iPad, following in their footsteps, Android took the market but met with much struggle until Big G stepped in with their Nexus tablets. Fast forward now, and both Android and iOS are fighting for control of the tablet market, although its not as fierce as the smartphone market. In an effort, manufacturers have started making tablets larger than your usual size (10-inch), though most have been Windows based, but there are some which have Android on-board. With that said, the rumor mill has brought in an interesting piece of bit regarding the fruit company’s response to overly large tablets.
If the rumors are to be believed, Apple is believed to be working on a 12.9 inch iPad to battle it out with Android, in a nut shell, it’s arch rival Samsung, who is also believed to be working on 12.9-inch and 13.3-inch tablets prepped for a 2014 release date. The rumor mill also brought in news that Foxconn might not be the only primary manufacturer for the 12.9-inch iPad, but Quanta Computer also. It appears they (Quanta Computer) have landed a relatively large amount of 12.9-inch iPad orders from Apple.
It seems though Quanta Computers might face difficulties in mass-production of the 12.9-inch iPad in terms of industrial design and assembly, and since the size is not mainstream specific, volumes are said to be limited. As far as specs are concerned, we haven’t landed anything concrete yet, except that it is reported to sport an UHD (Ultra High-Definition) display. It is rumored to release in the second half of 2014, keeping in touch with Apple’s usual iPad release dates.
It’s still speculation at this point so you might as well take it with a pinch of salt, but as with most rumors, they do have a funny way of becoming true. We’ll keep squeezing the rumor mill for more news, and if anything useful comes out, we’ll be sure to report it!
